Retiring on $4,000 a month?
Start with a complete plan.
A $4,000 monthly income does not automatically establish a luxury lifestyle or justify a property purchase. Compare the full household plan, first-year cash needs and commitments that continue in the United States.
The same $2,000 sample expense base becomes $2,300 after a 15% contingency, leaving $1,700 against $4,000 of income. This is the arithmetic of the entered figures, not evidence of what a household can purchase locally. A larger rental, more frequent travel or additional care may change the result substantially.
Replace the sample with your own figures.
All amounts are USD per month. These are arbitrary teaching inputs—not local prices, a recommended healthcare provision or a promised lifestyle. The same expense assumptions appear on all three income pages.
Monthly income remaining after the entered plan
Formula: spendable income − total expenses × (1 + contingency / 100). A positive result does not establish sustainable affordability.
Questions to resolve before the move.
- Are you comparing ordinary recurring costs with holiday spending?
- How much cash remains after relocation costs and restricted deposits?
- Is money intended for a property purchase being counted twice as an emergency reserve?
Use net income you actually receive. Avoid counting a premium twice if it is already deducted from that income. Keep moving costs, refundable or restricted deposits and an emergency reserve separate from the monthly expense total.
Turn the budget question into a useful brief.
Record the result and the costs you still need to verify. The retirement roadmap can capture your spending range and priorities for an optional follow-up. It does not book services or establish affordability, benefits or residency.

Can I retire in the Philippines on $4000 a month?
That cannot be established from income alone. Compare your own household requirements and current cost evidence with income actually available after deductions and your tax provision.
Are these figures current Philippine prices?
No. The expense amounts are illustrative teaching inputs, identical across the three pages. They are not a price survey, personal coverage quote or promised lifestyle.
Should I reduce healthcare spending to make the example balance?
Only replace a placeholder with your own verified costs. Do not remove an essential expense simply to produce a positive margin. Confirm your personal coverage, exclusions and payment arrangements.
